Kolkata: In a major drug haul, the Kolkata police’s Detective Department arrested a couple from from Ahiripukur and recovered 2.3 kg of charas and cash to the tune of Rs 9.12 lakh from them.
DC (DD) Jawed Shamim said that Sheikh Rashid alias Cheena and his wife Phooljhari Begum were arrested on Friday morning and their interrogation led to the recovery of Rs 9.12 lakh from their residence. Their links to a major drug-running ring are being investigated, Shamim said. The couple was produced in court and remanded in police custody for seven days.
