THE FINE MARGINAL WIN

Harbhajan Singh and Amit Mishra struck two crucial blows as Hasim Amla's defiant half-century took South Africa to 164 for five in their second knock at lunch on the last day of the second and final Test at Eden Gardens here today.
Virender Sehwag began the proceedings for the home team on a bright sunny morning but Amla and Ashwell Prince kept the bowlers at bay until the 26th over of the day.
Harbhajan broke Prince's resilience as a tossed up delivery balloned towards mid-off after Prince (23) played across the line and Ishant Sharma grabbed it gleefully.
On the other side South Africa captain Graeme Smith was today ruled out of the three-match ODI series against India as he failed to recover from his finger injuries.
Informing about Smith's development, South Africa Media Manager Michael Owen Smith said Jacques Kallis would lead the side in his absence.
He said in-form batsman Hashim Amla would stay and play in the ODIs, which are starting from February 21 in Jaipur. Smith, who scored four and 20 at Eden Gardens during the second Test, injured his little finger of the left hand during the first practice session, will return home for further treatment.
Also India's strike bowler Zaheer Khan was today ruled out of the first two ODIs versus South Africa which are starting from February 21 in Jaipur. Informing about the left-armer's development, BCCI's Chief Administrative Officer Ratanakar Shetty said his replacement would be decided later in the evening. The 32-year-old strained muscle of his left thigh during the fourth day's play of the ongoing test at the Eden Gardens.
