Shortly after claiming responsibility for the attack on a paramilitary force camp in West Midnapore district in which 14 jawans were fered killed, top Maoist leader Kishenji today said they were ready for talks if the government stopped military operation.
"Chidambaram has been constantly asking us to abjure violence and saying that the Centre is ready to speak, but this will not happen. Once the joint forces stop operation, we will also stop violence within 24 hours," Kishenji told PTI over phone from an undisclosed location.
"We have not started it (violence) and we will not stop it first. Let us see whether the central government is honest about a solution and we will definitely co-operate," the elusive leader said.
