Knights on the move for hatrick.

Eden’s lights didn’t fail, Shah Rukh Khan didn’t dance and his Knights didn’t do their usual.

Amid Mexican waves rippling round the stands, they downed Bangalore’s Royal Challengers in probably the most facile victory of season three; unlike in Mumbai two nights ago, the Knights never looked like losing this one.

The frailty of their opposition on the day encouraged Sourav Ganguly enough to give Rohan Gavaskar a bowl. Father Sunil, on commentary at the time, took a wicked crack at his son. Offered a comment, he quipped, “Well, all I can tell you is I wouldn’t mind facing him.”

Still Standing atop the table with two wins from as many matches, Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) consolidated their forte with the arrival of Kiwis speedster Shane Bond ahead of third match against Chennai Super King at Eden Gardens here tomorrow.

The Kiwi, however, did not take field today and was advised to take rest. It was not sure whether he would don purple and gold colours against the M S Dhoni's squad, scheduled to land here by this evening.

Chennai Super King started on a losing note, conceding a 31-run defeat to Deccan Chargers, which were humbled by 11 runs by KKR in the inaugural match in Mumbai on March 12.

Coach Dav Whatmore and his deputy Vijay Dahiya today took second string side and had light workout at Eden Gardens today.

Only a few among others in the first eleven like O Shah took part in the workout as the remaining were rested for the day before taking on CKS at 2000 hours tomorrow.

Local boy Manoj Tiwari, who became Man-of-the-Match for his hurricane 50 in 29 balls with the help of six 4s and two 6s, was also doubtful for the third play due to his knee injury which he sustained during stealing a run in yesterday's match.

''Though I have a bit of knee problem, I am sure I will be able to play in the third match, '' Tiwari said during receiving MoM award.

Bengal captain Laxmi Ratan Shukla, who was rested against Royal Challegers Bangalore, is also doubtful.

Rohan Gavaskar had played for him.

Rotating bowling and using maximum number of bowlers is the key to success for KKR in the last two matches, which were a bit low scoring innings.

In the first play, KKR's bowlers restricted Deccan Chargers to low score of 150 run in 20 overs to win by 11 runs.

At the Eden, the bowlers led by Angelo Matthews of Sri Lanka held the RCB at 135/7.

Dav Whatmore said the final XI will be announced after assessing all situation and consultation with captain Sourav Ganguly.

Ganguly said the selection will depend on ''our gameplan''.

In the first edition CSK won all two matches and in South Africa Chennai won one and another was abandoned due to rains.

Meanwhile, the weather office in the city predicted rains and thundershowers in the gangetic West Bengal, including captial city of Kolkata tomorrow.
