IT with different plan for BANDH

Bandh is not a solution says UPA Govt. But still we have to see a workless day tomorrow, but to avoid this BANDH IT honchos have decided against a shutdown in the 24x7 IT sector at Salt lake Sector V. They made this clear to Nabadiganta Industrial Township Authority (NDITA), which is taking necessary measures to ensure that Sector V's IT firms operate smoothly during Monday's Bharat bandh called by the Left parties.

Officials of NDITA and North 24-Parganas police met on Saturday to chalk out a plan to keep the IT hub functional on Monday. "We have spoken to the representatives of IT firms. Police will ensure that normal IT operations continue. Maintaining law and order will be the topmost priority," said NDITA chairman S A Ahmed.

Ahmed said police will ensure that all IT employees coming to office on their own reach their workplace on Monday. The government is making elaborate police arrangements at the important entry points leading to Sector V at Chinrighata, Rajarhat and Salt Lake Bypass.

Police vans deployed at the entry points will carry employees to office in case they are obstructed on the way by bandh supporters. "We are giving helpline numbers to all IT firms, which include the numbers of police and NDITA officials, so that anybody can ring up anytime if they have difficulties in reaching office. Also, there will be constant police patrolling inside Sector V. Apart from the huge deployment of police personnel, the law-engaging agencies of NDITA will also be there to maintain law and order," said Ahmed.

However, the big IT companies are not taking any chances. Like in the previous years, they have planned to pick up their employees from home before 6 am on Monday and send them back home after the bandh is over at 6 pm. "On behalf of the industry, we have made all arrangements to ensure that normal operations continue on Monday," said Kalyan Kar, vice-president of the Sector V stakeholders' association.

"We are taking all necessary precautions as we have done during previous bandhs. There will be arrangements to bring employees and hopefully the IT firms will be able to operate normally," said Ravindra Chamaria, chairman of Infinity Infotech Park.
